Japanese Airspace Changes to take effect July 18 2019 In an effort to enhance efficiency, Japanese airspace has undergone a redesign for the Tokyo terminal area. This includes both arrivals and departures for Haneda (HND) and Narita (NRT). The changes take effect on July 18.

Pilots should be extra vigilant as the procedures in the navigation database may not be updated for a July 18 arrival. Crews should advise ATC if they are unable to comply with a clearance and request radar vectors.

All flights transiting Japanese airspace on July 18 must have a new July 18 navigation database.

The Japanese Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) is aware of the potential issues and will provide assistance.
